学术报告:Construction of maximum projection Latin hypercube designs

报告摘要:Maximum projection (MaxPro) Latin hypercube designs (LHDs) are appealing for computer experiments where only a subset of the design factors are active. These designs are distinguished by their ability to optimize projection properties across all possible subsets of factors. However, the construction of MaxPro LHDs remains a challenging problem, and existing literature on the subject is limited. We present two algebraic construction methods for MaxPro LHDs, based on good lattice point designs and number theory. The resulting designs are asymptotically optimal in terms of log-distance and nearly optimal in achieving the MaxPro lower bounds. Furthermore, they demonstrate excellent multi-criteria performance in terms of column orthogonality, maximin L1-distance, and the uniform projection criterion. We also develop an efficient algorithm for constructing orthogonal-MaxPro LHDs via level permutations and expansions. Numerical results are presented to show that the construction is fast and the obtained designs are attractive, especially for large computer experiments.

学术报告:A generalized multiple Borel-Cantelli lemma in dynamics and its applications

报告摘要:The multiple Borel-Cantelli lemma is a criterion that characterizes the occurrence of multiple rare events on the same time scale. We generalize the multiple Borel-Cantelli lemma in smooth systems, thus broadening its applicability to several non-smooth systems preserving absolutely continuous measures. Using this generalization, we establish multiple logarithm laws for hitting time and recurrence for dispersing billiard maps and piecewise expanding maps under certain regular conditions, including tent maps, Lorenz-like maps and the Gauss map.

报告人简介:2019年在北京大学取得博士学位,2022年开始在北京雁栖湖应用数学研究院(BIMSA)担任助理研究员。主要研究方向为动力系统与遍历论,统计试验设计。研究成果发表在J.Mod.Dyn., Discrete Contin.Dyn.Syst., J.Math.Anal.Appl., Canad.J.Statist, Stat等学术期刊。
